Climate change is exerting devastating impacts on coral reefs, primarily through rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification. Elevated sea temperatures lead to coral bleaching, where corals expel their symbiotic algae, causing them to lose their vibrant colors and leaving the corals weak and susceptible to diseases. Additionally, increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are driving ocean acidification, which hinders the ability of corals to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. These combined stressors make corals more susceptible to diseases and hinder their ability to recover from physical damage, posing a significant threat to these vital marine ecosystems and the rich biodiversity they support.

Rescue a Reef was developed in 2015 to raise public awareness and action on coral conservation through educational and experiential activities. This includes hosting citizen science field expeditions led by UM coral researchers that provide a unique, hands-on opportunity for recreational SCUBA divers and snorkelers to participate directly!

Through these citizen science expeditions, participants learn about the critical role coral reefs play in our environment and economy, threats they face, and tools available for their conservation and recovery; all the while conducting real-world coral research.

I love that there’s three pockets, one back pocket with zipper, and the built in underwear are so soft! These are gender neutral so both my husband and I can wear them. They are great for beach, boat, swimming, and snorkeling. Drawstraing waist means it stays on but doesn’t squeeze my gut. I highly recommend these shorts!

Look fabulous, fit well

Such a cool print! The pair (XL) fits me well though I haven't had a chance to wear them longer than to try them on. The only modifications that I'd like to see are 1) a cord lock on the drawstrings, and 2) a mesh inner lining rather than a tight-weave inner lining - I think a mesh lining would be cooler.
